Key dates to enjoy Christmas in Tenerife

As Christmas is the perfect excuse to enjoy the best moments with family, dedicate time to the little ones and -why not?- even eat panettone for breakfast, without a doubt we can say that it is one of our favourite times of the year. Many families choose to spend these days of fun in Tenerife in a climate that one would expect in the summer months, thanks to the excellent sun and beach proposals that are available in villages like La Caleta, where the Hotel Suite Villa Maria is located.

Christmas on our island can be quite an unusual experience, especially for those who come ‘escaping’ from the cold, snow and low temperatures that are expected in Europe during the winter months. As we want you to make the most of your holidays, we have selected a series of perfect plans to enjoy this season in a Tenerife style.

Fun for the little ones at PIT

The Children’s Park of Tenerife (in Spanish, PIT) has been for years the event of reference for the children of the island, who take advantage of the days off school during the Christmas holidays and spend days of absolute fun in the fairground of Tenerife. This year’s theme is inspired by Star Wars and its numerous activities, workshops and games promise unique experiences to make new friends.

A dip in the middle of December, why not?

Instagram and Facebook are the perfect allies to be the envy of your contacts during your stay at Hotel Suite Villa Maria. Whether you enjoy a villa with a private swimming pool or if you prefer to enjoy our superb spaces in the common areas, winters in the sun are almost guaranteed at our hotel and a dip in December is a must to have a holiday to remember.

Discovering the portals of Bethlehem

In our previous post we wrote about the Christmas traditions, and in the Nativity Scene also resides much of the essence of our country. All over the island there are numerous citizen centres, associations and individuals who create incredible artisan nativity scenes, worthy of visiting and seeing. We recommend that you make a selection and come and admire these fantastic constructions that will “transport” you to the most magical scenes during Christmas.

The best of classical music, at the Christmas concert

The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra is one of the island’s greatest prides and a cultural reference for lovers of classical music. If you are one of those who get up early on January 1st to see the New Year’s Concert that is broadcasted from Vienna, you can’t miss this opportunity during your stay either. From the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife we will have the opportunity to listen to well-known fragments of operas by Puccini, some of them accompanied by the voice of the famous soprano Ainhoa Arteta.

Saying good-bye to 2018 in the race of San Silvestre

There are many places in Spain that celebrate the traditional San Silvestre race on December 31st. Although the most famous one is in the Vallecas district of Madrid, still in Tenerife we also have our own version in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Whether you are going to run or if you prefer to encourage the participants, it is a perfect opportunity to live the festive atmosphere that characterizes these days in the city, and wishing farewell to 2018 and encourage our colleagues of the Hotel Suite Villa Maria’s running team, who – we are sure – will achieve another new success.

The Three Wise Men Parade: a magical night

There is nothing more exciting than going to the Three Wise Men get-together before the night most awaited by children. Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar fill the streets of the island every year, along with their inseparable camels and their helpers, as well as other icons of children’s entertainment. The little ones enjoy one of the most magical events of Christmas like never before, with the typical nerves of wanting to know what gifts will be waiting for them at home on the morning of 6 January. Without a doubt, the best way to end the holidays, but with much regret to have to wait another year to experience again these great plans in family.
